For his student thesis project at the Bartlett School of Architecture, Thomas Hillier produced an immersive narrative world, complete with origami-filled hand-cut book pages and an elaborate model of the story’s architectural landscape. According to comments attached to this video, this strange cloud formation could be something called a “fallstreak hole” formed from supercooled ice crystals that sink quickly through a warmer layer of clouds leaving a hole behind, also called a “hole punch cloud”. Undoubtedly, they are rare.
