I love creative whimsy. This is a fine example by Jean-Luc Cornec. Link. Thanks to Superpunch.

Japanese Bar Codes
Since 2005, D-Barcode has been creating custom barcodes for a mostly Japanese clientele. They’ve even begun selling their designs to anyone who wants to license them, starting at $1,500 for the design, and $200 a year for licensing. A custom or exclusive use code will run upwards of $4,000–but given that companies spend millions on designing a [...]
Guess What This is?
It is a STUNNINGLY designed boat and there’s a really beautiful film of its interiors and decks here.
My father was the marine editor for the Vancouver Sun, my city’s “best” and largest circulation newspaper. I grew up in his word of words and images and people who loved the sea. He sensitized me to the [...]
Venn Diagrams
What is a Venn Diagram? Here’s the Wikipeia definition. As a visual thinker, I love them. As per the adage, “a picture is worth a thousand words,” diagrams reduce some explanations to pure simplicity. The ones above, I have found on the web and are just two examples of Venn diagrams that are funny or enlightening.

Town-Sized Installation/Illusion
I am in awe of human imagination and artists.
Now, in Cercle et suite d’éclats, Varini has taken on the challenge of working at the scale of the village, superimposing perfect circles on the town of Vercorin in the Swiss Alps. From inside the village, the graphic is fragmented and impossible to read, but from a nearby [...]
Drawing With Ball Point Pens
In his drawings, London-based Mylne has developed a crisp realist style, as shown in this portrait of a polo pony.
Whenever I doodled or tried drawing with a pen, I would always get blobs of ink on the top of the casing housing the ball. I imagine the drawers of the images on this blog wiped [...]
